Motor vehicle collision with pedestrian leads to criminal charges

On the morning of February 13, 2024, RCMP received a report of a collision where a vehicle struck a pedestrian on Second Avenue near Ogilvie Street in Whitehorse. Whitehorse RCMP advise they have laid charges in this investigation.

This investigation was led by the Whitehorse RCMP General Investigation Section and as a result, a fifty-one-year-old Whitehorse resident has been charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm pursuant to the Criminal Code.

The driver of the motor vehicle has been charged with additional offences under the Yukon Motor Vehicle Act including, driving at an unreasonable speed and driving without due care and attention.

The driver had a scheduled first appearance in court on August 28, 2024. The next court appearance is September 11 at 9:30 am.

No further information will be released on this investigation as the matter proceeds through the court process.
