Gander RCMP responds to residential break and enter in progress, man arrested and charged

Fifty-four-year-old Derek Bennet was arrested by Gander RCMP during a residential break and enter that occurred last night, November 21, 2024.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m., Gander RCMP received a report of a residential break and enter in progress on Hawker Crescent in Gander. An unknown man broke into the property while the home occupants were inside. Police arrived on the scene and observed the suspect exiting the residence through a broken window. The man was arrested without further incident and was identified as Derek Bennett. Occupants of the home were uninjured.

Bennett attended court this morning charged with break and enter and damage to property under $5000.00. He was released from court on a number of conditions.
