In late 2023, the Cold Lake General Investigations Section (GIS) became aware of a group of individuals involved in illegal crack cocaine sales in the area of Cold Lake.

With the assistance of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) in Edmonton, an investigation was initiated into this group, and it was determined that a well-organized crack cocaine delivery service was operating in the area.

The investigation resulted in the execution of separate search warrants in Bonnyville, Alta., and Cold Lake, Alta. As a part of this investigation, police seized approximately 118 grams of crack cocaine, Canadian currency, multiple cell phones and other paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

A 22-year-old individual, a resident of Edmonton, has been charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance and will appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake on Oct. 9, 2024.

A 35-year-old individual, a resident of Edmonton, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. This individual will appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake on Sept. 25, 2024.
