During Canada Road Safety Week your PEI RCMP Provincial Traffic Services Unit is engaging with public helping to educate drivers about all aspects of safe driving.

Did Your Know - there are Child Seat Laws in PEI?

- Rear-facing car seats should be used until your child is at least 1 year old and weighs up to 22lbs
- Forward-facing car seats should be used when your child is over 1 year old and weighs between 22 and 40 lbs
- a Booster Seat should be used when your child weighs more than 40lbs, or until their height reaches 4 feet 9 inches, or they are 10 years old or more

Once your child is 10 years old or more, or taller than 4 feet 9 inches, they should be using a standard seat belt.

PLEASE NOTE - the DRIVER is responsible to ensure all passengers under the age of 16 are securley buckeld in with the proper car seat, booster seat or seat belt. More info on child car seats can be found at www.childsafetylink.ca
