On May 9, 2023, RCMP Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (CAD CRU) made an arrest as a result of two stolen vehicles, which fled from police. As a result, an individual was charged with numerous offences. The individual has been remanded into custody until May 24, 2023, in Breton, Alta.

As a result of a continuation of this investigation, on May 10, 2023, a judicially authorized search warrant was conducted on a property in Breton. RCMP had knowledge that there was stolen property at this location. During the execution of search warrant, an individual fled the scene on an ATV. The individual was quickly apprehended, and the ATV was determined to be stolen from Breton. The male driving this stolen ATV had recently been arrested in Drayton Valley, Alta., for thefts during the wildfire evacuations.

As a result of this search warrant, a 38-year-old individual, a resident of Drayton Valley, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000
  • Possession of break in tools
  • Operate a conveyance while prohibited
  • Operate a conveyance in a dangerous manner
  • Breach of probation

After a judicial interim release hearing, the 38-year-old individual was remanded into custody for Alberta Court of Justice in Breton on May 16, 2023.

A 47-year-old individual, who had fled on the ATV, has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5000. The individual was released to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Breton on July 26, 2023.
