RCMP Traffic Services East conducts joint enforcement with RNC Traffic Unit near Butter Pot Park, tickets multiple speeders

RCMP Traffic Services East, along with the RNC Traffic Unit, conducted multiple stops for excessive speeding during the morning hours of Wednesday, October 26, 2022, on the Trans-Canada Highway near Butter Pot Park. Officers impounded two vehicles and issued over 50 tickets for speeding offences, recording speeds up to 169 km/hr.

A 37 year-old St. John's man was travelling at 161 km/hr and a 35-year-old male from Port Rexton was travelling at 169 km/hr. Both drivers were issued $520 tickets for excessive speeding, had their licenses suspended and vehicles impounded. The 35-year-old driver from Port Rexton was also found to be without insurance on his vehicle and was also charged with driving without insurance.

RCMP NL reminds the motoring public that speeding puts everyone on the road at an increased risk. RCMP NL continues to fulfill its mandate to protect public safety, enforce the law, and ensure the delivery of priority policing services in Newfoundland and Labrador.
