This ATV was seized by Glovertown RCMP after the operator fled from police twice on March 18, 2021 and provided a breath sample that was above the provincial limit.

A 26-year-old all-terrain vehicle (ATV) operator faces two counts of flight from police stemming from incidents that occurred on March 18, 2021.

At approximately 1:20 a.m. a Glovertown RCMP officer observed an ATV riding on the roadway on Main Street South in Glovertown without any rear lights. A traffic stop was attempted but the ATV sped up and fled into Traytown.

Minutes later, another officer observed the same ATV on Aspen Road in Traytown, now operating with no lights on at all. Another traffic stop was attempted but the operator fled from police a second time. At approximately 1:30 a.m., the ATV reappeared on Aspen Road and police were able to execute a traffic stop.

The driver was arrested for two counts of flight from police and during the arrest he showed signs of alcohol impairment. The driver provided a roadside breath sample that was above the provincial limit. He was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in May, 2021.

His licence was suspended and the ATV was seized and impounded.

Alcohol consumption and driving of any sort of vehicle is a combination that can be deadly. In 2020, eleven of seventeen off road vehicle fatalities involved an impaired driver.
