Christmas is the time of year that always seems to bring out the best in New Brunswick. That generous Maritime spirit seems to overflow everywhere until you can feel it in the air.

I see it among my own employees – the piles of presents and donations filling our offices, the extra shifts being filled so others can have time with their loved ones, the hospital visits and parades that show our communities how we care. I see it reflected back from our communities too – from the joyful greetings our police officers receive while on patrol, to the cards and treats dropped off to our detachments.

Here in New Brunswick we know the best way to build happy and safe communities is to help each other and show we care. It's that attitude that contributed to making New Brunswick one of the safest provinces in Canada yet again. We are proud of our collaborations with New Brunswickers. When you call to report a crime or concern, you are giving us the information we need to do the greatest good in our communities, focusing our efforts on those individuals and behaviours that cause the most harm.

As we look forward to 2020 – a new decade in policing and public safety – we will continue to work with New Brunswickers to keep our communities safe and to solve and prevent crime together.

I want to remind you all to make sure the holidays are safe and enjoyable – please always drive sober. Maritime weather is unpredictable, so always give yourselves lots of time to get to your destination, reduce your speed and consider road conditions.

On behalf of the New Brunswick RCMP, I thank you for your trust and support. Enjoy time with those you love over the holidays, and take care of yourselves and one another.

Merry Christmas.

A/Commr. Larry Tremblay M.O.M.

New Brunswick RCMP Commanding Officer
