2018 Gender and Harassment Advisory Committee Annual Report - British Columbia (E Division)
Background
E Division currently has four diversity and inclusion related groups as follows: Diversity and Inclusion Council (employee led), Cultural Diversity Inclusion Board (external community members), Indigenous Cultural Advisory Committee (external Indigenous community members), and the Divisional Gender and Harassment Committee. The Commanding Officer and members of the senior management team attend and participate in the meetings for all of these groups.
Current Status
The Diversity and Inclusion Council has proposed number of initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We are seeking opportunities for all of the four groups to work together and engage in joint initiatives that can further the mandates of each group as well as promote enhanced collaboration. One of the ways this is being achieved is through a joint meeting with all of the groups to be held in April 2018.
Next steps
Recommendation: Include representatives from the Diversity and Inclusion Council and the Gender and Harassment Committee on the National Diversity and Inclusion Committee to ensure continuity of reporting and ownership of initiatives. Opportunities for collaboration between the Divisional and National Committees should be leveraged.
