Community Action Guide
Youth have the insight and the ability to make a difference in their community. With the right tools and a little support from adults, they can improve community-life and become active partners in helping keep Canadian communities safe.
What is the RCMP Community Action Guide?
The RCMP Community Action Plan (Operation CAP) helps youth develop and put in place a community, youth-led project.
It includes tips on:
- how to identify social community issues
- how to set specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-based (SMART) goals
- how to get police and other community members on board
- how to use traditional and social media to raise awareness or get support for your initiative
Participants in the RCMP Youth Leadership Workshops use this guide to plan projects for their own communities.
Who can use it?
We encourage tutors, teachers, police officers and other youth educators to share the tool with youth, and to provide them with the support they need.
