Yellowknife RCMP execute search warrant, seize drugs, guns, cash

On August 29th, 2024 in the early hours of the morning, Yellowknife RCMP's General Investigation Section, with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant on a residence in Yellowknife under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Three people were arrested as a result. During the search of the residence, police located approximately $12,000 in cash, approximately 100 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 3 loaded firearms and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Two of the arrested parties were later released by police.

As a result of this investigation, 19-year-old Jackito Guiwan of Alberta is currently facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance, contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (3 counts), contrary to section 91(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a restricted firearm or prohibited weapon with ammunition, (2 counts) contrary to section 95(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon or prohibited weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code
  • Unsafe storage of firearms, contrary to section 86(2) of the Criminal Code

He appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody.
