An RCMP investigation has led to charges being laid against two individuals in connection with illegal importation of ghost guns from the United States. Stacy St-Pierre, 42, and Ruby Sharma, 45, both from Pointe-des-Cascades, are being charged with the following:
- Possession for purpose of weapons trafficking (CC 100(2))
- Importing or exporting knowing it is unauthorized (CC 103(1)(a))
According to an investigation by officers from the Champlain Integrated Border Enforcement Team, the two individuals smuggled six semi-automatic pistols across the land border through the municipality of Lacolle. The handguns in question, privately manufactured Glock-style Polymer 80s without serial numbers, are prohibited in Canada.
The two individuals are scheduled to appear at the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu courthouse on April 4.
