Single motor vehicle collision at the Lewes River Bridge

On September 16, 2024 at 6:47 AM, Whitehorse RCMP received information from Emergency Medical Services about a single vehicle motor vehicle collision at the Lewes River Bridge south of Whitehorse on the Alaska Highway.

A truck pulling a trailer missed the bridge, and plunged into the Yukon River. RCMP, Golden Horn Fire Department and the Whitehorse Fire Department responded. RCMP remain on scene.

There is currently no impact to the flow of traffic. Law enforcement officials urge drivers to adhere to speed limits and to reduce their speed when approaching construction workers or emergency medical personnel on the roadways.
