Update - Selkirk RCMP investigating after body found in the Red River

The body pulled from the Red River on September 21, 2024, has been identified as a 29-year-old male, from Winnipeg, who was reported missing to the Winnipeg Police Service on October 8, 2024.

The investigation, along with the results of the autopsy, have confirmed that no criminality was involved in his death.


Selkirk RCMP are requesting public assistance in identifying the body pulled from the Red River on September 21, 2024.

A composite sketch of the male has been completed and Selkirk RCMP are asking anyone who can help identify this person to call 204-482-1222, call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.

Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate.


On September 21, 2024, at approximately 1:00 pm, Selkirk RCMP responded to a report of a body floating in the Red River near the 3900 block of Henderson Highway, in the RM of East St Paul.

The autopsy has confirmed that the cause of death is not criminal in nature however identification of the deceased is pending.

Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate.
