Prince District RCMP stop 6 impaired drivers in the past 5 days – 17 impaired drivers stopped in locations across the Island in August

Between September 4th and September 8th, RCMP in Prince County stopped 6 impaired drivers. Throughout the month of August, RCMP across PEI stopped a total of 17 impaired drivers.

The incidents in Prince County include:

  • Wednesday, September 4th, approximately 9:30 p.m. driver evaded police in Duvar and was apprehended in a field;
  • Thursday, September 5th, just after 7:00 p.m. driver was arrested after collision with a bicycle on Church St. in Alberton (this incident previously reported by RCMP);
  • Friday, September 6th, at 12:00 p.m. driver was stopped on Route 2 in Bloomfield;
  • Friday, September 6th just before 11:00 p.m. driver was arrested in New London after a two-vehicle collision;
  • Sunday, September 8th at 4:00 p.m. driver stopped on Route 2 in Miscouche;
  • Sunday, September 8th just before 7:00 p.m. driver stopped in Route 111 in Middleton.

PEI RCMP stopped 17 impaired drivers in August including:

  • 6 drivers for alcohol impairment;
  • 7 drivers for drug impairment;
  • 4 drivers for refusing a police demand.

Note that some of these cases in August are awaiting blood sample results before charges are laid.

Total arrests by PEI RCMP for impaired driving now stands at 165 this year. In 2023, RCMP made over 230 impaired driving arrests.
