We are thrilled to share that Lola emerged as the top choice for our facility dog's name, thanks to your overwhelming response in our naming contest. With nearly 500 submissions pouring in, the enthusiasm and creativity displayed by the Island community truly warmed our hearts.
To pick the name we did a random draw from all the entries, so we have to give a big shoutout to everyone, including the classes and groups, who participated in suggesting names for our adorable companion. Your involvement made this decision even more special! We've reached out to our contest winner and will hopefully announce them soon too.
Our winning entry said they choose the name Lola because it has Spanish origins and means that understanding the sorrows in life is necessary to experience joy. The winner felt that Lola will be seeing people who may be sad, but that she can help make them happy again. Our Lola is definitely here to bring joy, comfort, and a wagging tail to all she encounters.
