On July 14, 2024 at approximately 6:15 p.m. the Iqaluit RCMP and Iqaluit Fire Department, responded to a report of a 14-year-old girl, who became stranded on the rock cliffs between the Inuksuk High school and the 8-story building. Two RCMP members were able to reach the young girl and secure her, while a third RCMP members secured the two officers. The Iqaluit Fire Department was able to rescue the young girl by deploying their fire truck ladder. As a precaution, the young girl was taken to the Qikiqtani General Hospital. The young girl did not suffer any injuries and was released to family.
