That's right – PEI RCMP have a new four-legged member and we need a great name for her. Can you help us come up with a great name for this little girl!?!? We're running a Name the Puppy contest for some great prizes.

Here's the Puppy deets:

  • Our puppy is a female golden retriever;
  • She is in training to be a Facility Dog - a facility dog is a type of therapy dog that can provide services to help people by encouraging movement, opening up ways to communicate, and just helping out in any way she can with her presence;
  • The Puppy has a special handler – Corporal Ian Allen – and he will be able to bring the dog along with him wherever and whenever she is needed. Corporal Allen will also get some special training!

Here's how you can send us your name idea:

  • PEI RCMP is known as "L" Division so we are looking for names that begin with the letter L.
  • If you're 18-years-old or younger, send us one name idea by email to PEI RCMP at rcmppei.grcipe@rcmp-grc.gc.ca
  • Include your name, age, what school you go to and let us know why you chose the name you did. Make sure we have an email address we can get back to you.
  • Contest is open to residents of Prince Edward Island.
  • If your entire class or group wants to submit a name, that's great. Please ensure you have your teacher's permission or that of your group leader.
  • Deadline for sending us your name ideas is Friday, January 26, 2024.
  • One winner will be chosen and announced January 29, 2024.

Please share this with your friends! We can't thank you enough for helping us and are looking forward to having you meet this newest member of our team soon.
