Cross Lake RCMP investigating shooting that sends 2 teens to hospital

On November 25, 2024, at 4:50 am, Cross Lake RCMP received a report of shots fired near a residence located in the Wapack region of Cross Lake Cree Nation.

Officers conducted patrols in the area but did not locate any suspects nor victims as no other information had been provided by the caller.

At 6:20 am, officers then received a report from the Nursing Station that two gunshot victims had been brought in by vehicle.

Officers attended to the Nursing Station and located an 18-year-old individual from Winnipeg, and a 16-year-old individual from Sagkeeng First Nation, who were in stable condition with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. While at the Nursing Station, the health of the 18-year-old deteriorated to critical, but non-life threatening. Both were transported by med-evac plane to Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.

Cross Lake RCMP are asking anyone who may have information or may have witnessed this shooting, and have yet to speak with officers, to contact the Cross Lake RCMP Detachment at 204-676-2600, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.

Cross Lake RCMP continue to investigate.
