A suspect involved in a number of crimes in the Marystown and Gander area, including the theft of a vehicle, has been identified. Efforts to arrest that individual are underway.
On the morning of September 17, 2024, police received a report of a stolen car from a commercial property in Marystown that occurred sometime between the morning of September 16 and 17, 2024. A white four-door 2014 Nissan Sentra, with NL plate JBK013, was stolen.
At approximately 6:15 p.m. yesterday (September 17), Gander RCMP received a report of theft of gas from a business on the Trans-Canada Highway in Gander. The involved vehicle matched that of the stolen car in Marystown.
The vehicle returned to the Marystown area last evening and is suspected to be involved in a theft of gas from a business on Route 210 in Boat Harbour that occurred last night.
At approximately 1:15 a.m. today (September 18), police received a report of a break, enter and theft from the SPCA in Burin. The suspect forced entry into the facility and stole a dog from inside.
Police are continuing to look for the stolen vehicle and efforts are underway to arrest the identified suspect.
