Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigates homicide at the Edmonton Corn Maze - Update

Alberta RCMP have laid charges in connection with the murder of a male at the Edmonton Corn Maze on Aug. 27, 2024, near Spruce Grove. The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Joseph Farnsworth.

RCMP have charged a 41-year-old individual with second-degree murder.

The individual was taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody with a next court date set for Sept. 4, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain, Alta.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigates homicide at the Edmonton Corn Maze

On Aug. 27, 2024, at 7:02 p.m., Parkland RCMP received a report of a stabbing that occurred at the Edmonton Corn Maze on Highway 627 near Spruce Grove. Upon arrival, an adult victim was located deceased. The suspect remained on scene and was taken into custody.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was dispatched to the area and has taken carriage of the investigation.

While RCMP investigate, we are asking anyone that was at the Corn Maze on Aug. 27, 2024, from 5 p.m.to 7 p.m., to call the Parkland RCMP at 825-220-7267.

RCMP would like to advise the public that this attack involved two guests who knew one another.
