Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate homicide in Gift Lake Metis Settlement

On August 23, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., High Prairie RCMP responded to a call of an unresponsive male in a vehicle. Upon their arrival, the male was deceased having injuries consistent with a gun shot wound. Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit were called and have taken carriage of the investigation. RCMP have determined the victim to be 41-year-old Gift Lake Metis Settlement resident, Bradley Lamouche.

RCMP arrested and have charged Gift Lake Metis Settlement resident Dakota Auger (27) for second-degree-murder. Auger has been taken before a justice of the peace, his next court date is set for August 26, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in High Prairie.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton on August 26, 2024.
