P.E.I. Crime Stoppers held its annual Officer of the Year awards event recently to recognize Municipal Police Officers, RCMP Officers and Department of Public Safety Officers who have given exceptional performance in the line of duty.
P.E.I. RCMP Corporal Travis Gallant was presented the Police Officer of the Year Award for routinely exceeding expectations, outstanding leadership and community policing innovation. He routinely volunteers his time throughout the community with local youth through coaching hockey and baseball, attending local schools to present on behalf of the RCMP, and regularly attending Red Serge duties including retired member funerals and Remembrance Day. Calls from the general public regularly recognize him for going above and beyond.
