50-year-old man arrested for drug trafficking following traffic stop

The Elsipogtog RCMP has arrested a 50-year-old man and seized quantities of drugs, as well as money and weapons from a vehicle in Elsipogtog, N.B.

On November 7, 2023 at approximately 1:05 p.m., members of the Elsipogtog RCMP Detachment stopped a vehicle in the community for not having a rear licence plate. The driver, who was known to police, had a suspended licence and an outstanding warrant of arrest for failing to attend court. The driver was arrested at the scene and the vehicle was towed.

Subsequent to the arrest, police conducted a search of the individual and the vehicle and seized a significant quantity of weapons, as well as money. Police later executed a search warrant on the vehicle and seized quantities of what is believed to be crack cocaine, unknown pills, drug trafficking paraphernalia and more weapons.

The driver, a 50-year-old-man from Elsipogtog, was later released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. The investigation is on-going.
