On Oct. 4, 2022, shortly after 1 p.m., St. Paul RCMP received numerous 911 calls of a female being chased through town by a male with a rifle.
RCMP located and arrested the male without incident and located a bayonet type machete measuring three feet in length. Upon further investigation, it was learned the male had struck the female several times with his hands, chased her with the machete, and threatened to kill her. The female victim was located safe and unharmed.
A 43-year-old individual, resident of Saddle Lake, Alta., has been charged with the following:
- assault with a weapon
- possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- mischief under $5000 – damage to property
- uttering threats against a person
Following a judicial hearing, the individual was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 20, 2022, in St. Paul provincial court.
