Rankin Inlet RCMP seized a large quantity of alcohol as part of an on-going Liquor Act investigation into allegations of bootlegging.
On January 15th, 2021, Rankin Inlet RCMP executed a search warrant and seized twenty-four, 1114 ml, bottles of alcohol. A 44-year-old man from Rankin Inlet is being charged under S. 84 of the Nunavut Liquor Act with the Unlawful Sale and Possession of Liquor. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 8th, 2021.
"The police in Nunavut are committed to helping reduce harm in our communities; including the negative impact bootlegging has on Nunavummiut. We encourage you to support our efforts in identifying those who cause harm from bootlegging." said Corporal Tammy Lobb.
