In an effort to help bicycle owners recover their bike should it ever be stolen or lost the Sackville RCMP is offering a bicycle registration service to the community.

The idea is to have a central location where the year, make, model and serial number of the bicycle can be registered.

"This is important because in the event the bicycle goes missing and it's located by the RCMP, then we're able to get it back to the owner," says J.F. Leblanc, Community Program Officer for the RCMP in Sackville. "On average about 15 bicycles a year are found by Sackville RCMP or turned into us and in many cases we have no idea who the owner is in order to get it back to them"

Participation in the bicycle registration program is free but is limited to Sackville residents only. Registration forms are available at the Sackville RCMP detachment located at 31 Main Street, Sackville.
