Operating context
Greater oversight, a new labour relations regime, and increasing public scrutiny are new aspects of the RCMP's operating context. Broader external disruptions driven by societal changes in the environment and technology are recognized and met with internal transformational changes. This dynamic interplay provides an opportunity to examine traditional policing responses by using new technologies and training methods, as well as such RCMP initiatives as the Digital Policing Strategy, and a national cybercrime and fraud reporting system. The resulting modernized, agile organization will be better prepared for operations and will be guided by a strengthened vision, a more comprehensive strategy, and an integrated risk and performance measurement system.
As the nature of crime changes, the RCMP is responding by proactively managing its evolving scope. To support this transition, the organization has put a renewed emphasis on its integrated strategic planning.
