2019 Gender and Harassment Advisory Committee Annual Report - National Division
Background
- National Division's Gender and Harassment Advisory Committee (GHAC) has met four times since the beginning of this fiscal year, to explore and advance the Division's commitment to gender, inclusivity, equality and harassment in the workplace.
- Ongoing efforts have been made to gain a better understanding of the current state of affairs within the Division relative to this committee 's mandate, which includes acquiring employee feedback on these issues.
Objective
Given the direct relationship between a positive organizational culture and the prevalence of issues pertaining to gender, inclusivity, equality and harassment, National Division GHAC has determined that their overarching mandate will seek to improve the organizational culture by fostering a respectful workplace. It is believed that a 'respectful workplace' is one that is premised on advancing the mandate of the GHAC.
Current status
In order to acquire a baseline measure relative to the overall health and wellness of the Division, as it pertains to the issues associated with gender, inclusivity, equality and harassment in the workplace, National Division identified the 'Guarding Minds ' survey and recently rolled this survey out Division wide. The survey closed on November 30, 2018 and the results of the survey are now being analyzed by sector. Once this analysis has been completed, an Action Plan will be established and initiatives will be prioritized based on their impact in advancing and improving the overall culture of the Division, which would include the resolution of issues that are directly correlated with the GHAC mandate.
Next step
Following the analysis of the Guarding Minds survey results, an action plan will be established and the GHAC will provide oversight and direction in support of the implementation of the various initiatives identified. Implementation of the Action Plan will commence April 2019 and a copy will be provided for the next annual report.
